Ishin Denshin: A Carhartt WIP Skate Film

Marking Carhartt WIP’s first full-length skate film set in Asia, Ishin Denshin takes viewers deep into Japan’s quiet corners and busy city streets. The film coincides with the expansion of Carhartt WIP’s skate team within Japan and throughout Asia.

Ishin Denshin explores the country’s skate scene – one that endures despite challenging conditions, where the simple act of skating in public can often be met with resistance from local authorities. With a running time of around 20 minutes, the film was shot by longtime Carhartt WIP collaborator Romain Batard, as well as Geoff Campbell, and Kyota Kamei.

Ishin Denshin takes its name from a Japanese phrase loosely translated as “telepathy,” alluding to the unspoken, common language shared by skaters across the globe, capable of transcending communication barriers and cultural norms. Reflecting this, the video brings together an international lineup of Carhartt WIP team riders, where newest member Kyonosuyke Yamashita will be making his debut. Joining him are Yuma Takei and Kelly Ishihara from Japan, as well as Eetu Toropainen, Eddie Cernicky, Noah Mahieu, Willow Voges Fernandes, Amélien Foures, Raph Langslow, Max Palmer, and Tanner Burzinski, from across Europe and the US.

A selection of products will accompany the launch of the video, including a graphic t-shirt, sweatshirt, and two hoodies – one of which is exclusive to Japan. A special edition zine dedicated to the project will also be released, with photography from Iseki Nobuo, Romain Batard, Kyota Kamei, and Etienne Chatelain.

Ishin Denshin premieres on YouTube on January 30th, 2026.
