The National Skateboard Co. x Vague x Vans – ‘Under Revue’ Tour – Leeds

“What is the ‘Under Revue’ Tour” I can hear you ask. Well, earlier this year, Vans and The National Skateboard Co. decided to team up for a staggered summer jaunt around the UK, roping in the multitalented Reece Leung from Vague for good measure. The idea was to fill a van with a rotating cast of The National Skateboard Co. and Vans riders, visit some of our friends up and down the country, spend a few days in each area skating with the locals, and putting on an evening ‘free for all’ session in conjunction with the resident shop.
The end result will be a feature in an upcoming issue of Vague, along with a full length edit released online covering the on-going street aspect of the mission. Whilst we’re steadily working away on that, we’re going to be sharing the coverage from the shop sessions with you all.

The first stop of the tour was Leeds, back in May. I’d like to say that Leeds is the spiritual home of The National Skateboard Co., but as the business is still registered to an address there, chances are that legally Leeds is it’s home too. Therefore the city qualified itself as the best place to kick things off. At 6pm on the Friday evening, we met with a strong gathering of locals at Welcome Skate Store and headed out en mass to a couple of city centre staples. Starting with a chaotic hour at a bemused Millennium Square, the evening eventually wrapped up heavy ride-on session at the nearby Henry Moore Art Gallery. Prizes were won, Northern Monk beers were consumed (by the over 18’s) and the assembled The National Skateboard Co./Vans crew watched the madness unfold as they rested their battered legs following on from a couple of days tackling northern street spots.
